John “Jack” Charlton OBE DL (8 May 1935 – 10 July 2020) was an English footballer and manager who played as a defender. He was part of the England team that won the 1966 World Cup and managed the Republic of Ireland national teamfrom 1986 to 1996 achieving two World Cup and one European Championship appearances. He spent his entire club career with Leeds United from 1950 to 1973.

Jack Charlton was a great character and an inspiration to many; particularly in Ireland, bringing back the feel good factor during the Italia 90 World Cup as Ireland’s most successful football manager. This is my tribute to the legend that was Jack Charlton.
